Stay Away From Food High In Cholesterol

If the food tastes great, more often than not it is food high in cholesterol. They are not wrong when they say if it tastes good it can’t be good for you. This does not mean that you have to give up all that you like to eat, the key is moderation.

Foods high in cholesterol are basically foods which have a high percentage of saturated fats. Increased consumption of saturated fats provokes the liver to increase the production of LDL, bad cholesterol. It is not that fatty foods are the culprit. The culprits are foods with triglycerides and saturated fats. Fatty foods high in unsaturated fats on the other hand are good for your heart and trigger the production of HDL the good cholesterol.

The culprits, saturated fats and cholesterol are naturally a part of most animal products. This includes egg yolk, high fat dairy products, meat, fish and poultry. Does this mean that you have to convert to being a vegetarian? It is not so as the key as I said is moderation. Even the healthy vegetarian food can become high cholesterol food depending on the way it is cooked. For example fried fries, fritters and other such foods which have been fried in fat are sources of high cholesterol.

Rather than completely avoid these naturally high cholesterol foods, it is better to take care of how the food is cooked. Rather than what you eat, you need to take care of how you eat it.

Plenty of zero cholesterol foods can play havoc with your bodies if not used properly or cooked properly. Just because it does not have cholesterol it doesn’t mean that it is a healthy option. Coconut oil is a zero cholesterol item but it is very high in saturated fats. Anything cooked in this medium automatically becomes a saturated fat bomb. So when you eat food cooked in coconut oil you are inviting the lever to go into overdrive with LDL production. This could be quite unhealthy.

It is not just natural food that has cholesterol, but our main source of saturated fats and cholesterol are processed and packaged foods that we consume by cart full. All those in between munchies and snacks, sugary snacks and desserts that most of us love to eat are food high in cholesterol. It is not easy to give up these tasty treats, but if you want healthier levels of cholesterol it is worth the effort.

Opt for healthy foods and cut down on food high in cholesterol. Look for HDL boosting foods to keep the cholesterol levels in control.
